Old Oakland Speculative

This project merges two vacant street-level properties into a single storefront commercial space. The project’s design was approached with material restraint, allowing the existing concrete structure to define the palette. A steel stair was designed for access to the mezzanine, and plays off the simple white walls and concrete. An accessible bathroom was added, as were rough-ins for a future kitchenette. The soaring height of the space is capped with a light, perforated ceiling in a black grid that allows glimpses of the mechanical systems.

NOTE: Project is currenty under construction. Photography of completed work is forthcoming.
